The Pit Production Supervisor role is based in Bridgeport, TX and reports directly to the Assistant Plant Manager - Bridgeport Quarry.

What you’ll get to do

  • Oversee and ensure safe and effective aggregate pit operations

  • Direct and supervise shipping loader operators and scale operators, and personally execute the work when required

  • Gather aggregate production samples, perform laboratory functions to process samples, input results into database, and report variances to the Quality Control Manager

  • Manage production process to ensure silt ponds are maintained at optimum levels

  • Direct sub-contractors engaged in ground preparation and extraction activities to ensure adequate lands are available for processing

  • Liaise with various land owners so that available land is managed and released professionally

  • Ensure all environmental regulations are met

  • Maintain proper tool/parts inventory

  • Complete maintenance projects, and regular maintenance on production equipment and loaders

  • Maintain operational reports in the database and communicate data and insights to management

  • Perform other miscellaneous mechanical and maintenance duties as required

Essential Experience and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 5 or more years of supervisory experience or at least 5 years of pit operations experience with proven leadership skills

  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and highly accountable

  • Previous experience as a contributing member of a safety committee

  • Motivation, ability, and willingness to adapt to all of the aspects of the supervisory role, including varying hours, extended shifts, and accountability for ensuring production or shipping goals are met

  • Eagerness to learn all aspects of open pit aggregate mining and aggregate products, plus a genuine interest in doing this type of work as a career

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience operating crushing plant equipment and/or mobile equipment

  • Mechanical background with conveyors, screens, crushers, loaders and skid steers an advantage.

  • First-Aid/CPR trained

  • Cutting and Welding experience an advantage

Work Environment

  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
